Importance of Practicing on a Mannequin
A professional mannequin is one of the best investments you will make as a bridal stylist. It gives you the freedom to practise whenever you have time, repeat techniques and make mistakes before working on real models and brides.
I am an international bridal stylist, and I still practise and create new styles on my mannequin today.
Your mannequin is where your confidence begins.
You might watch a tutorial and think, That looks easy. Then you try it yourself and the pins are showing, the sections are not sitting properly and it looks completely different.
That is normal.
Every time you repeat a style, your hands learn a little more. You understand tension, pin placement, sectioning and shape until eventually you stop thinking about every movement and simply know what to do.
That is how confidence is built.
Not by watching more tutorials. By actually doing the hair.
Practise for 20 minutes when you can. Repeat the styles you struggle with. Take photos and keep your first attempts.
By Day 90, I want you to look back at your Day 1 hairstyle and see how much your skills, your eye and your confidence have changed.
Every style you practise brings you one step closer to confidently working with a real bride.
Your mannequin is not just for practice. She is where your bridal career begins.
